Greenbank Gators – Dive into new swim season
Greenbank Gators Swimming Club has dived back into the pool, with its first Club Night of the 2019-20 season held on Tuesday, 8 October. The night proved a great success with lots of new faces coming along to try out, while returning members enjoyed racing with their teammates in a variety of events.
Over the winter a number of swimmers continued to attend meets, braving the cooler conditions and pool temperatures, with some qualifying to compete in Brisbane Premiership meets β the Speedo Short Course Preparation Meet, and the Vorgee Brisbane Junior Championships.
A handful of swimmers have also been honoured by Swimming Australia with Junior Excellence Awards for the 2018-19 swimming season. These swimmers have achieved times set by the JX program and have been presented with a JX pack from Swimming Australia.
Recently, a small squad of swimmers travelled to their first meet of the 2019-2020 season at Toowoomba, with several personal best times swum and medals picked up by two swimmers.
Looking to the next few months, GGSC has a number of district and regional swim meets and swim clinics to attend β with numbers of swimmers increasing every meet and clinic.
GGSC welcomes all interested swimmers to come along for a try out β gates open from 5:45pm every Tuesday for registration of new swimmers. All GGSC details can be found at www.facebook.com/greenbankgators
