Pirates Selected to Play Interstate

Pirates Selected to Play Interstate by Kelli Greene

Some great news from the recent Queensland School Sport AFL State Championships on the Gold Coast, with three of our girls making a name for themselves throughout the carnival.

Olivia Harmer and Naomi Ginn from the U17’s Greater Pirates have been selected to represent the QLD U15 School Girls side to play at the National carnival in Tasmania in late July.

Also, Christine Okesene, from Springfield, team member of our U17 Girls Greater Pirates combined team has been selected for the QLD U18 Women’s Team to compete in Perth, also in July.

Kaleb Nolan from the Park Ridge Pirates U16’s side, even though injured throughout the recent State games, was selected as a ‘Shadow’  for the chance to compete at the National Carnival in Tasmania.  Kaleb’s outstanding talent had been recognised previously by the selectors despite his current ankle injury.

All at Park Ridge Pirates extend their congratulations and are extremely proud of the accomplishments of these players.  It is great to see their performances acknowledged and rewarded at this level and we have no doubt that they will continue to represent the club, their families and themselves very well throughout the upcoming competitions.
