Logan West Loses a Champion
by: Paul Jackson
Logan West lost a true community champion last month. On Friday 18 January 2019, Pauline Davis passed from this life to the next, surrounded by family and at peace after a short battle with cancer.
Many would know Pauline through her volunteer work in the Logan West community over the last thirty plus years. Hundreds of children would remember her as the Tuck Shop lady at Browns Plains SHS. Many parents would know her as the tireless P&C President at Browns Plains High School. Park Ridge Panthers would remember her for her enthusiastic support of soccer and netball teams through the 90s. Hundreds of girls would recognize her as the Captain of the Park Ridge Girls’ Brigade who helped shape them into young women. Many Japanese students would also be thankful for her leadership as the coordinator of student exchange/homestay in Logan West for many years.
Having helped thousands of young people through the 80s and 90s, and having seen the great need in her community for financial help, Pauline headed to university and received her Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) so she could help coach individuals and families out of poverty. This lead her to open the Logan branch of Christians Against Poverty through which she helped scores of families to get out of debt and get their heads above water.
Pauline was a woman of strength, passion, faith, love, hope, and joy. She will be sorely missed but much celebrated throughout this generation.
